More than likely you will be arriving at the Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA). When arriving, there are a couple of options for transportation to the hotel. The most common, and the easiest, is the free shuttle directly from the airport to the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel.
Note: There are more than one Sheraton Hotels in the area, make sure you get on the shuttle marked with “Sheraton Pentagon City.” You can also ask the driver if there is any confusion.
The Pentagon Sheraton Hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to and from the Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) daily from 5am – 12:30am. The hotel is about 5 miles from the airport or approximately 10 minutes.
From Airport to Hotel: Picks up from Terminal A, Door 5 & Door 9 on the 15 and 45 of every hour. First pick up: 5:15am, last pick up 12:15am.
From Hotel to Airport: From 5am until 12:30am the shuttle leaves the hotel every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour.
Want to take a Taxi to the hotel?
A DCA Taxi Dispatcher is available at designated taxi stands to ensure you are placed with a taxi. Fare to the hotel one-way is approximately $15.
From Terminal A, proceed out the exit doors at baggage claim and turn right. The Taxis are located on the curb closest to the Terminal.
From Terminals B and C, proceed to the baggage claim lower level. Walk indoors to doors 3 or 10. Exit the doors to the curbside. You will find the taxi dispatch locations clearly marked.
You can take the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (Metro) to the Pentagon City Station and catch a shuttle to the hotel as well (although the free airport shuttle is easier). From DCA take either the Blue line towards LARGO TOWN CENTER or the Yellow line towards FORT TOTTEN. The ride will last less than 7 minutes. The second stop from the airport is the Pentagon City Station (announcements will be made). Exit the station to ground transportation and hop on the Sheraton Metro Shuttle.
From Hotel to Metro: Shuttle runs weekdays from 6:15am and weekends starting at 7:15am, until 11:15pm. The shuttle leaves the hotel on the 15 and 45 of every hour. The last shuttle leaves the hotel at 11:15pm.
From Metro to Hotel: Shuttle runs weekdays from 6:30am and weekends starting 7:30am until 11:30pm. The shuttle leaves the metro station every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour. The last shuttle leaves the metro at 11:30pm.
If you have additonal questions about the shuttle you can call the hotel at +1.703.521.1900 or visit their website.

Subject Preparation for our Workshop: Quality Data Visualization
I'm looking forward to our time together at the workshop. This one should be pretty easy to prepare, but I do have a favor to ask.
We will be building a dashboard in this workshop, and covering how to think about software metrics. You will need access to a JIRA instance to do the hands-on portion of this workshop. Ideally, you should access your JIRA instance at work, so that your dashboard will be ready & waiting for you when you return. All of your work will be saved and useful on your first day back.
If you don't have access to your work JIRA, I do have a JIRA server with test data that you can user. I will give you the URL and login credentials at the workshop. If you need this, please drop me a note at email@example.com to let me know. That will help me prepare the appropriate number of licenses.
Besides having access to your work later, using your work JIRA will be beneficial because every JIRA instance has customizations on workflow, fields, and how fields are used in that project. My test instance of JIRA is pretty close to the default implementation, I've added very few customizations. Using your work JIRA, we can tweak the filters and dashboard to fit your situation, instead of the generic implementation.
So, please bring a laptop and necessary stuff to login to your work JIRA (VPN, etc.) or drop me a note so I can prepare.
All attendees are encouraged to dress business casual. Hotel meeting rooms are generally kept a little cool, so a sweater or light jacket can be useful during the workshops and sessions.
STPCon Meet & Greet Reception – Tuesday 10/23 – 4:00-6:00pm: Attire for the reception is business casual. The reception will be held in the Session Room Foyer.
STPCon Fall 2018 will provide the following meals during the conference:
The weather in the DC Metro area during STPCon is expected to be a bit moist. Please check the extended forecast prior to leaving your home to gain an idea of what to expect. Historically, the average highs are in the mid 60’s and lows in the low 50’s.
We have a number of evening neworking receptions and activities happening during STPCon. Please check the Free Evening Activities at STPCon Fall 2018 page for a detailed description of each.
